Health & Safety
At Yearling Nursery School, the health, safety, and well-being of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a clean, secure, and nurturing environment where children can learn, explore, and grow with confidence.
Our school follows all city licensing requirements and health guidelines to ensure that every child is cared for in a safe and supportive setting.
Clean and Healthy Environment
We maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the school to help keep children healthy.
Our health practices include:
-
Daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, toys, and learning materials
-
Regular handwashing routines for children and staff
-
Sanitizing frequently touched surfaces throughout the day
-
Careful food preparation and storage practices
-
Immediate attention to spills or hazards
Children are also taught age-appropriate hygiene habits such as handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and bathroom hygiene.
Health Policies
To help maintain a healthy environment for all children, we ask families to keep children home when they are experiencing symptoms of illness such as fever, vomiting, or contagious conditions.
If a child becomes ill during the school day, families will be contacted promptly. Children who show signs of illness will be cared for comfortably until they can be picked up.
We work closely with families to ensure children return to school when they are healthy and ready to participate.
Trained and Prepared Staff
Our teachers and staff are trained to support children's health and safety at all times.
This includes:
-
CPR and First Aid certification
-
Training in child supervision and safe classroom practices
-
Knowledge of emergency procedures
-
Ongoing professional development in early childhood care
Staff members maintain constant supervision and provide a calm, supportive environment for children throughout the day.
Safe and Secure Facility
Yearling Nursery School provides a modern and carefully designed facility where children can safely explore and learn.
Safety features include:
-
Secure entry to the building
-
Supervised drop-off and pick-up procedures
-
Age-appropriate classroom furniture and equipment
-
Safe outdoor play areas
-
Regular safety checks of classrooms and playground equipment
- Multiple security cameras in each classroom and outdoor areas
Our environment is designed to encourage exploration while ensuring that children remain safe and protected.
Outdoor Play and Supervision
Outdoor play is an important part of a child’s development. Our property is fully enclosed by a six-foot fence, providing a secure environment where children can safely enjoy fresh air, physical activity, and exploration.
Yearling Nursery School maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring that multiple teachers are always present in class and during outdoor play. This allows staff to position themselves throughout the play areas so children remain clearly visible and well supervised at all times.
Our infants and toddlers have a separate outdoor space, a large cedar deck designed specifically for younger children. The deck is equipped with age-appropriate materials that support early movement and gross motor development in a safe and comfortable setting.
Partnership with Families
Maintaining a healthy and safe environment is a partnership between our school and our families. We communicate regularly with parents regarding health policies, updates, and any important information related to their child’s well-being.
Together, we work to ensure that Yearling Nursery School remains a place where children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn each day.
